Moments from the streets of the "city that loves you". Probably the most accurate city slogan of all time.

It may not be as substantial as the mighty Dnipro, but this little river in my backyard is pretty impressive too.
Music Student Olga Shustova plays violin on the steps of the Teatral'na metro station.
Children try to pop bubbles in Tarasa Shevchenko park at dusk in Kiev, Ukraine.
An events worker lights candles for a series of mourning events for the "Heavenly Hundred" revolutionaries, killed in the Euromaidan Revolution in the winter of 2014 in Kiev.
Moments from the streets of the city that has my heart.
HI. I'm Bekah.
WELCOME TO THE VISUAL DIARY OF A PHOTOJOURNALIST A LONG WAY FROM HOME.
I am a student from the University of Montana in Missoula, who, like a true millennial stereotype, has always had a burning need to travel the world. Though unlike the stereotype, does not have a trust fund with which to do so. I knew I had to get somewhere, all by myself. I started studying Russian and swiftly fell in love with the language, but the prospect of a Russian degree wasn’t enough. I found my way to journalism, and more specifically photojournalism, and that was it. My dream to become a kick-ass bilingual international photojournalist was born.
Five years of the most grueling double major I could have ever conceived of, and here we are. All of my dreams are coming true. Kind of. I'm still so-so at Russian. And I'm not exactly a kick-ass international photojournalist. But I WAS given an internship at a NovaMova Language School photographing Kiev, where I spent my semester, but also traveling to each of their program locations throughout Ukraine, Moldova, and the caucasus. So stay tuned. Watch through my camera lens as I get lost in and fall in love with some far away places. Read though my darker moments studying abroad, as I struggle to navigate through a world where there are no quadruple shot espressos or numbers on buildings. It'll be fun.
